As ladies, we’re always able to borrow a trend or look from the boys. Our latest borrow from the fellows..actually old English fellows, are the smoking slippers. And by the looks of things, the ballet slipper has a bit of competition this Fall.

The relaxed slipper that came about during Victorian times that has been woven into loungewear style of men many decades afterwards, is back in a major way.  But, women have worn the smoking slipper style many years ago and once again are wearing the trend.

So, if you are considering giving the loafer a try, I say why not.  Like the ballet slipper it’s easy to wear, but has a bit more “dress up” appeal.  The smoking slipper inspired shoes are the perfect alternative to heels.  They are ideal for cocktails with the girls – especially the many Holiday gatherings taking place in the coming weeks. If anything, do not wear this style shoe with a wide leg pant.  The shoe is perfect to wear with a straight leg or skinny pant – either long or ankle skimming.

So if you plan on giving the ballet slippers a rest this season, I have selected 6 styles of Smoking slipper shoes for every budget!

Comepete Blue Suede shoe; Steve Madden; $89.95
Deanz flat with Glitter; Dollhouse; $24.00
Killion; Aldo; $60.00
Air Morgan Slipper; Cole Haan; $168.00
Womens Monogram Shoe; Del Toro; $365
Va va Velvet Pom Pom Slippers; Top Shop; $56
