In The Mood For Mod

March 3, 2013

From the Spring 2013 runway shows of Marc Jacobs, Lisa Perry and Michael Kors, to the street style of Gwen Stefani and the red carpet preference of Beyonce – there is a mod movement taking place. Thankfully this is a trend that women everywhere can wear regardless of her lifestyle, shape or size. Although the trend is fairly easy to pull-off, I do have a few tips for those wanting to try the look:

1. When wearing a mod-inspired print, try adding a pop with a contrasting color such as yellow, blue or red.  For instance, if you are wearing a mod print dress, consider pairing the dress with a bright coat and accessories.

2.  Be sure to pick the right stripes for your shape. For example, if you are thin, add the illusion of curves with horizontal stripes. However, if you are on the curvy side or petite, go for vertical shapes instead for a more elongating and slimming look.

3. If wearing a monochromatic outfit, play it up by mixing in mod print accessories such as a clutch or shoes.
