Need A New Style Beat For Spring? Remix It With Kmart!

May 3, 2013

One evening this week, I had the pleasure of attending the Kmart Fashion Remix event, hosted by fashion expert and celebrity stylist, George Kotsiopoulos in New York City.

Kmart launched the Fashion Remix as an extension of the “Money Can’t Buy Style” campaign, which encourages customers to embrace their individualism when approaching fashion. This season Kmart is serving up their customers some of the latest trends in budget-worthy prices and suggesting them to take their style a step forward and remix their looks! As a part of this Spring’s remix campaign, the retailer teamed up with George to kick everything off.

At the event, fashion editors and bloggers were invited to participate in a remix challenge to show off their style. The mission of the evening was to style an item selected by George – which in this case was the Jaclyn Smith Utility Shirt ($24.99). Personally, I love utility shirts and was excited to begin my challenge.

After a few try-ons, I settled on a pair of orange staight-leg capris, and initially had a french blue utility shirt. George suggested that I go with a shirt that had more color and he included a pink shirt into the equation. Shortly afterwards, I felt as though I needed an extra pop and set my eyes on a bright pink blazer that would make the perfect addition to complete the look. Overall the colors within my outfit were tonal and color blocked without the typical color contrasting that appears in such a color combination.

My remixed look (on left pictured on me): Magenta blazer from Sofia by Sofia Vergara ($25.99), Pink Utility shirt from Jaclyn Smith ($14.99), and orange straight capri pants by Jaclyn Smith ($14.99).  All available on (images on the right).
