Summer-Proof Your Office Outfits With Inspiration From These 3 Looks

June 22, 2013

I’m not to sure what it is about the heat that makes some folks throw caution to the wind when it comes to dressing. Maybe keeping cool in hot temps becomes more of a concern than actually looking hot – in a fab way. But truthfully it’s worth the sweat, keeping up a polished appearance no matter where you work.

Every work place requires a different dress code, yet and still presenting yourself in the best professional way should be important to YOU. Rubber flip-flops, short mini dresses, or anything else you would wear on a beach or to a party just isn’t for the workplace. Although this seems like common sense, common sense isn’t always common. Whether it’s because of the confusion that comes along as a result from reading about the latest trends in publications or  one simply not knowing, some folks really become confused during the summer. In effort to help keep you on track, here are a few ideas. But first consider some of these tips:

  • Swap those dark color blazers for lighter hues.
  • Opt for dresser selections when it comes to trends.  For instance, if you want to get ankle-skimming trousers, play it safe and purchase in conservative prints and colors for the office.
  • Buy tanks and sleeveless tops in lux fabrics to wear under summer cardigans or blazers.
  • Flip the flops for a polished comfortable shoe.
  • If an item is a trendy piece that you would wear to a club, then it’s not for the office…this means no bodycon dresses in the office. I’m sure you want your boss to notice you, but not in a raunchy type of way.
  • Have fun with color!  Tastefully add a pop of color to the conservative basic black, navy and tan tones. This can be done with something as simple as an accessory.
