How To ‘Subtly’ Up The Wattage In Your Wardrobe With Neon Brights

June 24, 2013

Celebs in Neon sp

I loved neon back in the 80’s.  In elementary school, it started with the gummy bracelets, t-shirts and hair accessories. So, when the trend made an appearance this season, at first, I didn’t consider the look because it seemed way too youthful, reminding me of days when I was a kid. But now, one neon skirt and two neon leather thong sandals later – I kinda dig the look. Many beyond the teen bopper group may also be just a tad hesitant like I was, but, do know there is a way to add  ‘grown woman’ appeal when wearing electrifying hues.

Here are my pointers:

  • Go monochromatic – Try coordinating color an  intense neon color with another item that is of the same color but lighter and less intense.
  • Tone  it down –  When I wear neon pieces, I like to turn down the wattage with cool colors, such as white or light blue denim.
  • The Shoes – If wearing a solid color neon dress, try a nude tone shoe for a more subtle approach. But, by all means if you really want to go sexy with your neon, try a wild card shoe, such as on in a leopard or zebra print.
