Runway Beauty Inspiration: Sleek Meets Texture

August 27, 2013

On some days we want body, on another day we want it sleek and on other days, we simply want both! But isn’t that the beauty of being able to play up our hair in a multitude of ways to fit our moods and looks?! Well, for the Fall 2013 shows, designer Mara Hoffman sent her models strolling down the runway in an easy-fuss free hairstyle that is the ideal combination of both. Her collection was inspired by her idea of “misfits and mystics”, so for the show, CATWALK® by TIGI® Global Creative Director Nick Irwin transformed models into a caravan of new-age sophisticated travelers with a raw yet refined hair look, reminiscent of a modern day gypsy. Overall, the look was created into refined dual-textured locks with modified volume, as pictured below.

How-To:

1. Prep hair with CATWALK® by TIGI® Session Series Styling Cream and create a defined center part

2. Blow dry hair with a paddle brush to straighten and smooth before using a flat iron to remove all frizz

3. Tuck hair behind the ears and begin to twist random 1-inch sections using CATWALK® by TIGI® Curlesque Strong Mousse (twist sections in alternating directions) and secure with clips

4. Once all hair is twisted, set with a diffuser until mousse is completely dry

5. Once set, remove clips and gently separate twists at the bottom, taking care not to create frizz

6. Finish with CATWALK® by TIGI® Your Highness Shine Spray on the crown and CATWALK® by TIGI® Sleek Mystique Look-Lock Hairspray on the twists

7. **Stylist Tip – to recreate hair length on model, insert “ear to ear” wefts of hair extensions
